In the case of BMW, Audi, and the newer VW fobs, the electronic data can be expanded upon massively. In many cases telling us the VIN number, model, trim, key number and last time and date of use (contact us to find out more on specific vehicles). This is helpful as the time and date of use can be critical if the last known use is after the vehicle was reported stolen. Mercedes fobs have a similar system with more limited information held. Our Services
A Foundation Report
- A date check; most modern keys can be opened to reveal a date stamp to confirm if the key in question is original or a copy.
- The condition of the blade; the alloy can flake, chip, wear and scar in such a way that will enable us to identify the approximate age of the key.
- A transponder reading; almost every key has a transponder which can usually be read with our Zed Bull transponder reader, or in the case of Mercedes, we have the Expert Key Examiner. In the case of some keys, this can tell us the transponder number, response codes, key number, mileage it was last used and sometimes even the VIN number.
- Electronic microscope photos; to backup any data we provide, photos are used to illustrate points made.
- Background information; regarding general security of the vehicle type and model.
- General Information; regarding the number of keys supplied as standard when new.
A Comprehensive Report
- All the points raised in the foundation report plus.
- Were possible, a data sheet from the manufacturer and key scan with more extensive data (VIN number, last use etc),
- A greater breakdown on the vehicles security.
- A larger library of images to support text
- References from sources to backup data sourced from the keys
- Audi, VW, BMW and most recently, Jaguar Land Rover key fobs can be read and in some cases with manufacturer assistance establish authenticity.
A Technical Report
Much like the comprehensive report, the technical write up gives you a full breakdown of the vehicle including security and vulnerabilities. As you may not always have access to the vehicle fobs the report is intended to give as much information as possible looking at the vehicle operating procedures to give you the insight needed with each distinct vehicle.

Standard turnaround time for the reports is 10-15 working days (dependent on current workload). Keys should be sent recorded delivery, packed well in a padded envelope, along with a cover letter/note and a key report request form detailing vehicle information/background, this form can be downloaded in Word formats via the links below.
